Chiang Mai Night Safari with Kids — Tiger Show & KKday Shuttle Ticket Review

I visited Chiang Mai Night Safari with my 7-year-old son Seojin during our trip to Chiang Mai. Unlike daytime zoos where animals are often sluggish in the heat, this night safari is perfect for spotting nocturnal wildlife. Spoiler: just the tiger show alone makes it worth every baht.

Book with KKday — Shuttle Included Makes It Easy

Chiang Mai Night Safari is quite far from the city center. If you take Bolt or Grab, drivers sometimes ask for extra charges or demand round-trip fares upfront. That’s why I opted for a KKday ticket with round-trip shuttle included — it was simply the most stress-free option, especially traveling with a kid.

👉 Book Chiang Mai Night Safari ticket with shuttle on KKday

You can choose your preferred time slot when booking, and the shuttle picks you up directly in front of your hotel. Our accommodation was in the Nimman area, so we were the last stop — picked up around 5:30 PM. There were already guests from various countries on board, and we arrived at the safari around 6:20 PM.

Herbivore Safari — Feed the Deer Right from the Bus

The safari is divided into two tram rides: a herbivore safari and a carnivore safari. Before boarding, you can purchase animal feed to hand out to deer and other herbivores through the open windows — Seojin absolutely loved it. Watching him stretch out his tiny hand as a deer pressed its nose right up to the window is a memory I won’t forget.

Honestly, the carnivore safari was a bit disappointing — even though these animals are more active at night, it was simply too dark to see them clearly. I’d focus your energy on the animal feeding and the tiger show instead.

Highlight: The Tiger Show — Seojin Got on Stage

The absolute highlight of Chiang Mai Night Safari is the tiger show. Multiple tigers perform — catching food, climbing trees, and doing kid-friendly tricks. After the show, you can go up on stage to take photos with the performers. Seojin and I were the loudest ones cheering, so we ended up being invited on stage for a group photo. Since it wasn’t too crowded that night, we had plenty of room to enjoy it at our own pace.

The Finale: Fountain Show — Moved Indoors Due to Rain

The grand finale is a fountain show, but heavy rain that evening meant it was moved to an indoor venue. If you’re visiting during Chiang Mai’s rainy season (roughly July–October), keep this in mind — outdoor shows can be rescheduled. We used the time to browse the souvenir stalls, and Seojin picked out a small wooden carving to take home.

Tips Before You Go with Kids

  • Book the shuttle-included ticket — Taxis from the city can charge extra or demand round-trip payment upfront. The KKday shuttle is worth it.
  • Buy the animal feed on-site — Available before the herbivore tram. Kids go absolutely wild for the feeding experience.
  • Pack a light rain jacket — September–October is rainy season in Chiang Mai. Outdoor shows may be moved indoors.

Chiang Mai Night Safari is a great evening activity when traveling with kids. The tiger show and animal feeding experience are genuinely memorable. If you’re planning a trip to Chiang Mai, I’d highly recommend blocking off one evening for this.
