During our Chiang Mai trip, I wanted to create a special memory with Seojin (7 years old) — so we tried a Thai traditional costume photoshoot. We visited Nakara Chiangmai Studio, located near the Night Bazaar. Here’s my honest review of the experience.
Located on the 2nd Floor of Chiang Mai Night Bazaar
The studio is on the 2nd floor of the Chiang Mai Night Bazaar building. It can be a little tricky to find at first — walk in through the main entrance and head upstairs, then look for the signage. There are similar studios nearby, so make sure you check for the right name.

Book via Instagram or Line
I made a reservation through Instagram DM and got a quick response. You can also reach them via Line or WeChat.

The price is 800 THB per person (as of September 2025), the same for kids. So two people would come to 1,600 THB — but that includes traditional costume, makeup, hair styling, the photoshoot, and the original files. Honestly pretty good value.
Choosing Costumes and the Shoot
When you arrive, you start by picking your costumes. There are lots of colors and styles, and the staff were helpful in recommending what looked good. After dressing up, they take care of hair styling and accessories too. Seojin had this turban-style headpiece put on and he looked every bit like a little Thai prince 😄

I got into a traditional costume too and we took photos together. It was way more fun than I expected. Matching outfits with your kid really brings the whole thing to life.

Multiple Concepts — the Retouched Photos Are Stunning
The shoot covers various setups and poses — overhead shots, sitting on a traditional throne, lying poses, and more. Seojin was having a blast the entire time. Right after the shoot, the original files are transferred directly to your phone.

About 3 days later, you receive 10 professionally retouched photos by email. The quality genuinely surprised me — a completely different level from anything you’d get with a phone camera.

Tips Before You Go
- Book ahead — Reach out via Instagram or Line before your visit to skip the wait.
- Bring cash — 800 THB per person. Check on card payment when you visit.
- Retouched photos take about 3 days — You get the originals on the day; the 10 retouched photos arrive via email within a few days.
Traveling solo with my son, this kind of experience is exactly what I look for — something memorable that you can’t do at home. If you’re visiting Chiang Mai and planning to stop by the Night Bazaar anyway, head up to the 2nd floor and give it a try. Highly recommended.
